ABOUT THE POSITION

We have exciting opportunities for a BIM Leader in our Qatar office. The positions will report to the Design Services Business Group Leader. 

The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining the BIM environment for a group of Design Technicians and taking an active role in implementing BIM on projects, reviewing design processes and data production. 

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the delegation and co-ordination of work for a group of BIM technicians
  • Responsible for overall team performance and coaching / development of BIM technicians
  • Training and development of their team in line with business requirements, mentoring to achieve professional accreditation as appropriate.
  • Technical specialist in the application of advanced concepts, principles and methods in both CAD, BIM and CDE applications.
  • Supporting technical user queries, conducting training to the wider team and communicating changes and developments to users through workshops and one-to-one sessions.
  • Working with Project Managers to ensure drawings are being delivered on time and within budget
  • Overseeing the management of software licenses and ensuring current version of software is maintained to GHD standards (may delegate to others).
  •  Working with Project Managers / Project Directors to establish and implement the correct standards and templates required for each project.
  •  Work with Project Managers / Project Directors, and when necessary, Client and supply chain teams to establish and implement the correct work and information flows, required level of details at particular stages in the project.
  • Work with the Technicians to ensure the agreed procedures, flows of information etc. are being implemented.
  • Work with all Stakeholders to proactively resolve difficulties on each project as needed.
  • Communicate across offices with the other GHD CAD / BIM Co-ordinators to ensure the quality and timely output on cross office / region projects.
  • Contribute to identifying and implementing new/emerging technologies.
  • Setting up BIM Standards at the outset of each projects.
  • Setting up Model and assisting team members when a difficult BIM task are required to be undertaken on a project.
  • May be required from time to time to assist in more difficult modelling tasks.
  • Will be responsible to ensure Models and Modelling are kept to GHD BIM Standards.
  • Has the ability to lead Clash Detection using Navisworks.
  • Works with the Team Leads in developing Automation tasks for the projects.
  • Will be expected to work with Team Leads to enhance and consistently develop the BIM Library.
  • Will assist in developing on boarding BIM Standards for new recruits.
  • Oversee BIM design practices and manage BIM activity within the team.
  • Promote continual learning and evolution of digital design processes.
  • A proven track record in coordination and management of BIM Models for large multidisciplinary buildings and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Facilitate technology innovation workshops to investigate new approaches to solving client’s objectives. 

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role or relevant technical role
  • Previous experience in managing a team is desirable
  • Technical and Organisational Expertise
  • Excellent knowledge of GHD and client drafting standards.
  • Excellent BIM skills are essential in Revit and Civil 3D, BIM 360 and CDEs.
  • Skills covering a wide variety of other BIM authoring technologies and cloud based applications is also desired.
  • Should have advanced technical skills in REVIT to be able create complex modelling.
  • Has strong working knowledge of Naviswork and is able to carry out Clash Detection.
  • Technical capability of BIM LOD 350 with knowledge of 400 and 500 
  • Strong expertise and experience in Digital/Big Data Analytics/ A.I./Machine Learning algorithms, respective programming knowledge.
  • Experience using Navisworks for clash detection reporting, renderings and presentations.
  • A proven record of accomplishment in coordination and management of Information Models for large multidisciplinary buildings and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Sound understanding of professional consulting services with a client focus.
  • Experience in providing on-the-job training (BIM/Revit) to Architecture, Structures and MEP teams.
  • Knowledge in AR/AR is desirable
