Role Purpose and responsibilities

The Research Analyst is a mid-level Data Science / Quantitative Research role responsible for both enhancing the quantitative analysis infrastructure for the Global Investment Research team and conducting research analyses in support of the team’s research output. As the GIR team evolves and expands, the Analyst will take a lead role in building quantitative analysis tools and facilitating analysis within the team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in supporting, improving and maintaining data services within the team.
  • Take a lead in building quantitative analytics to support existing reports and to facilitate developing new reports and research ideas
  • Analyze and visualize data for use in research reports
  • Explore new datasets and analytics based on new data sources
  • Coordinate closely with data engineer and group Research leads
  • Contribute to thought-leading research through written analysis of equity and multi-asset markets

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science or quantitative field is a must. A master’s degree would be very helpful
  • Proven experience in quantitative finance in any sell-side, buy-side or investment research institution
  • Proven experience working with data tools include SQL and Python is a must
  • Expert levels hands-on demonstrable knowledge of the Python programming language is a must
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of investment analytics and quantitative investment techniques
  • Familiarity with and interest in financial data required
  • Experience with Eikon/Refinitiv Workspace and similar data platforms would be a great plus
  • Experience working with index data and financial datasets would be a great plus
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise technical writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong self-motivation needed to work efficiently in a global team
