Job Description

  • Manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of our data infrastructure, including data ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, design efficient data workflows, and ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve data-related issues, ensuring the smooth functioning of data pipelines and services.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of data systems, identifying bottlenecks and implementing necessary improvements.
  • Define and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies for our data systems.
  • Automate data operations processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability, utilizing appropriate tools and frameworks.
  • Implement and maintain data security measures and compliance standards to protect sensitive data and ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to address their data needs and provide technical support for data-related inquiries and requests.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices in data operations to drive innovation and improve the overall data infrastructure.
  • Participate in incident response and troubleshooting efforts, investigating and resolving data-related issues and outages in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and best practices for data operations and infrastructure management.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data operations, database administration, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with data technologies such as data ingestion tools, data processing frameworks, databases (relational and NoSQL), and data storage systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, SQL or similar) for scripting and automation.
  • Experience with data orchestration tools and workflow management systems.
  • Solid understanding of data monitoring, alerting, and logging systems.
  • Familiarity with data security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of big data frameworks and tools (e.g., Kafka, Hadoop, Spark) and distributed computing principles.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data cataloging tools.
  • Experience with stream processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Apache Flink).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data exploration techniques.
  • Understanding of DevOps and Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in these environments.
