Job Description

Giant Oak seeks students to serve as part-time Research Assistants.
Each Research Assistant will conduct research and data collection to support the development of a software tool used by government and private sector clients to identify security threats through domain specific indexing and search capabilities. Research Assistants will conduct data evaluations that provide crucial input to the development and improvement of the software. This includes coding data used to develop text models that predict whether given pieces of open source information are about certain topics such as terrorism or international fugitives and assisting the science team in creating custom domains for clients. In addition, Research Assistants will work on a variety of other projects involving financial threats, insurgency, crime, and terrorism.

  • Discretion for sensitive information

REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work a varied schedule based on the needs of the people or team you support (Note: some nights and weekends required)
  • Must be eligible for a U.S. Security Clearance

 PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Educational background in Social Science, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Experience with data or statistical analysis
