Job Description

What distinguishes us from other companies?

DeepL (formerly Linguee) was founded by developers and researchers. We focus on the development of new, exciting products, which is why we spend a lot of time actively researching the latest topics. We understand the challenges of developing new products and try to meet them with an agile and dynamic way of working. Our work culture is very open because we want our employees to feel comfortable. In our daily work we use modern technologies - not only to translate texts, but also to create the world's best dictionaries, and solve other language problems.

When we tell people about DeepL as an employer, reactions are overwhelmingly positive. Maybe it's because they have enjoyed our services, or maybe they just want to get on board with our quest to break down language barriers and facilitate communication.

Your Choice

We are constantly looking for outstanding employees! Currently, we offer remote work in Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Poland. Whether you would like to work from home in one of these countries or from one of our offices in Cologne, London or Amsterdam: the choice is yours. No matter where you choose to work from, our way of working is designed to make you an essential part of the team.

What will you be doing at DeepL?

You will help us ensure that the company's key performance indicators (KPIs) are not only accurately defined but also effectively leveraged to generate valuable insights for decision-making. We aim to build an in-depth understanding of business processes and workflows to interpret data, ultimately leading to clear and actionable strategies.

You will work closely with stakeholders across different tracks within the company. Our ambition is to enhance the use of data across the organisation, driving the definition and tracking of KPIs and providing high-quality dashboards and reports to the company.

In your role, you'll be instrumental in aligning with track leaders, developing a comprehensive KPI reporting strategy, and assisting in the proactive performance of root cause analyses. You may also contribute to forecasting future trends for KPIs, helping DeepL to identify potential risks and opportunities, thus playing a vital role in shaping the company's future strategies.

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across the company, including data scientists and business domain experts, to define and maintain the main KPIs at both company and track levels
  • Build a common understanding of the data and how it enables diagnosing the health of the business by partnering with stakeholders to understand business processes and workflows
  • Develop and execute a track level KPI reporting strategy in alignment with track leaders
  • Create high quality, easy-to-understand, and actionable dashboards and reports that provide meaningful insights into business performance. The focus is on quality, not on quantity.
  • Perform proactive root cause analyses to uncover underlying business issues or opportunities
  • Potentially forecast future trends for KPIs, identifying potential risks and opportunities that could impact business performance

What we offer

  • Data at scale from products used by more than 100 million people worldwide
  • Our own analytics and experimentation platform - far beyond the limitations of standard web analytics platforms
  • Interesting challenges: analytics and programming and at the highest level
  • A friendly, international, and highly committed team with a lot of trust and very short decision-making processes
  • Meaningful work: We break down language barriers worldwide and bring different cultures closer together
  • A comfortable office in Cologne, London or Amsterdam or suitable equipment for your home office

About you

  • You have professional experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or Data Scientist, preferably in an online company. Experience working on metrics and intelligence projects would be an advantage.
  • You are eager to learn and make a meaningful impact
  • You possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand and articulate complex data and technical concepts to stakeholders with diverse backgrounds
  • You enjoy collaborating with stakeholders proactively to identify opportunities
  • You have a strong working knowledge of SQL and can work with Python
  • You have robust analytical skills and a strong business sense, with the ability to identify opportunities and risks
  • You are pragmatic and maintain a balance between quick results and thorough analysis
  • You are skilled at data visualization & analytics; experience with dashboard tools such as Metabase is a plus
  • You are fluent in English, which is our company language
