About the Team

DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash. We are working on building autonomous delivery robots from the ground-up and other automation solutions as part of DoorDash's core delivery platform. About the Role

We’re hiring a systems safety engineer for our autonomy team. In this role, you’ll work with multiple stakeholders including Product, Engineering (hardware and software), and Operations to develop the technical capabilities we use to ensure our autonomous robots behave safely when deployed.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

• Play an integral role on a small focused team.
• Collaborate with technical domain experts in Hardware and Autonomy Software (e.g., Platform, Perception, Prediction, Planning, and Quality Assurance), to build out both the processes and technical capabilities we use to ensure safe operations of our autonomous robot.
• Design and maintain the overall safety argument for the robot.

We’re excited about you because…

• You have a product oriented approach to writing production level software.
• You have strong statistical skills.
• Love to think cross-functionally and cross-domain.
• You have insatiable curiosity and want to understand how complex systems work at the lowest level of detail.
• You have deep familiarity with existing safety standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448.
• Nice to haves include:
• Experience in the self-driving car industry.
• Experience delivering software or systems compliant with functional safety standards.
• Experience designing safety arguments

Compensation

The location-specific base salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation in other geographies may vary.

Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location. Please discuss your intended work location with your recruiter for more information.

California Pay Range: $176,000—$238,000 USD
