About Us

Union.ai is a Seattle-based startup founded by a team of former Lyft engineers. We contribute toFlyte, an open source platform for orchestrating massively scalable machine learning pipelines running on Kubernetes.

These pipelines power some of the most popular apps on your phone, as well as applications in diverse industries such as song sharing, vaccine research, early cancer detection, global map rendering, financial projecting, and piloting autonomous vehicles.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a talented Sr. Front-End Engineer with expertise in React, full-stack development and a personal passion for machine learning. This person will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of ML tooling by incorporating your personal perspective on features and usability.

In this role, you will:

• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to conceptualize, design, and develop intuitive user interfaces
• Leverage your expertise in React+TypeScript to create high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code
• Employ your understanding of ML workflows to influence the development of user-centric features that address the needs and pain points of data scientists and engineers
• Contribute to architectural decisions and participate in code and design reviews, ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance

About you:

• You have a deep and thorough understanding of React and its core principles
• Extensive experience with TypeScript
• Experience with Python and knowledge of ML concepts and frameworks (eg. TensorFlow, Pytorch, Spark) is highly desired
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills -- we work as a global team integrated with with a global open-source community
• 5+ years of experience building modern web applications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
