Meet the team:

The Software Development Tools team is responsible for the tools and workflows that Latitude’s world-class software engineers use on a regular basis. We build innovative tools and workflows that make it easier for developers to build great software, covering diverse areas such as debugging, profiling, code editing, and static analysis. If you love diving into new areas of a tech stack and making a difference, this is the place for you!

As a member of the team, you will work closely with other engineers to understand their workflows, and help identify rough spots in the software development process. You’ll help design, implement, and maintain high impact tools that deliver incredible value to your fellow developers throughout the company. You’ll help develop and implement lightweight processes that promote code quality high while letting developers move fast. You will need creativity, initiative, attention to detail, and a deep desire to dive in and make things better for your fellow engineers.

What you'll do:

• Engage cross functionally with other engineers to understand workflows and explore ideas about how to improve them
• Design, implement, deliver, and maintain innovative tools that address those needs
• Work closely with your teammates to brainstorm approaches to problems and determine high impact solutions
• Deliver metrics and supporting infrastructure to monitor our development environment and the quality of our tooling
• Work with various APIs to interface external tools with our code
• Write robust, highly tested, well-crafted code
• Work in cooperation with other teams at Latitude to improve common infrastructure and meet the needs of software developers
• Help level up the team by learning and teaching new techniques and technologies

What you'll need to succeed:

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field preferred
• Excellent technical communication and collaboration skills
• Strong skills and deep knowledge of at least one language (Python or C++)
• A great attitude, a passion for supporting your fellow engineers, the creativity to come up with new approaches, and the initiative to make it happen
• Ability to deliver and support high impact, reliable tools in fast moving environments
• Strong abilities in some combination of C++, Python, SQL, frontend and/or backend web technologies, and various cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, etc). You certainly don't have to be an expert in everything, but you should be willing to quickly learn and adapt new or unfamiliar technologies
• A strong background in data structures, algorithms, and performance is helpful
