We are currently looking for a Senior Data Scientist [Space for Sustainable Finance]

What we can do together

As Senior Data Scientist for an innovative space project centered on sustainable finance, you will design and develop state-of-the-art algorithms based on artificial intelligence to extract valuable information from various data sets and data sources.

The project aims to provide an independent environmental assessment of financial assets. The objective is to develop innovative analytics on aggregated data that comes from different sources: satellites images, greenhouse gas measurements, and meteorological, ground, and aeronautical sensors associated with financial and geographical data.

You will join an intrapreneurial Agile development squad and will bring technical expertise, leadership, and vision to the team.

Your key responsibilities will additionally include:

  • Managing data (data cleaning, organization, storage) and preparing a data set for training and test phases
  • Developing machine learning algorithms for satellite images segmentation
  • Testing and adjusting algorithms to be robust when new images are used
  • Connecting your algorithms with the backend part of the application
  • Being able to configure different models and record performance metrics for industrial purposes
  • Communicating effectively on your proposed solutions with all stakeholders, customers and colleagues, therefore inspiring trust and showing results
  • Staying up-to-date with the fast evolution of the data science field (frameworks, architectures, applications, libraries) and contributing to improving our ways of working.

You will also be fully integrated into the whole team of Thales Alenia Space Luxembourg, working with engineers and developers dedicated to other projects, and potentially contributing on other projects.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in artificial intelligence algorithms and a proven record of accomplishment in the implementation of machine learning-based solutions. You are aware of the latest algorithms used in the AI field and especially those related to satellite imagery processing.

Ideally, you should have 5+ years of development experience - plus an Engineering/Master’s Degree in Data Science or related field – and strong proficiency in English.

You should also have experience with the following:

  • Data science algorithms and deep learning frameworks (Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch), deep learning architectures for semantic segmentation, and machine learning algorithms for satellite imagery segmentation
  • Data management and machine learning lifecycle
  • Programming languages such as Python or R for data preparation, analysis, processing and visualization
  • Data storage and data pipelines
  • Git for version control.

Fulfilling any of the following points would also be considered an asset:

  • Remote sensing: knowledge and experience of remote sensing principles and tools linked to satellite, aerial, or drone imagery, for example
  • Geospatial analysis: spatial data structures, projections, and GIS software
  • Knowledge for interpreting and contextualizing remote sensing data such as agriculture, forestry, climate change, pollution, or biodiversity
  • French language proficiency.

In summary, we are a new organization looking to build a diverse team with different backgrounds and skillsets. If you are a skilled and collaborative leader, take pride in your craftsmanship, and enjoy working in a high-paced environment, you will be a great fit on our team!

What we offer

Together, we will take a role in setting up a new company driven by an entrepreneurial mindset. We will experience new ways of working and create innovative digital technologies for Space.

You will become a member of the dynamic Luxembourg space and digital Eco-System, and work for an inspiring group of 80.000 people present in 68 countries.
