Job Description

Position Summary

This is an onsite position located in Melbourne, FL.

Thales is looking for a DATA ANALYST INTERN to work on real-world data analysis projects, gain hands-on experience, and develop new skills in a collaborative and innovative environment. The Data Analyst will build and optimize the systems that allow data scientists and analysts to perform their work and establish the foundation that the data analysts and data / AI scientists build upon.

In this position, you will involve managing different datasets and data wrangling strategies to best prepare results for visualization with Business Intelligence Tools. In addition, you will work with Machine Learning models to validate results and engage the proper functional teams to take corrective actions on real airline fleets.

Additionally, you will work alongside other analysts to calculate KPIs & metrics for finance, programs, engineering, and/or external customers. These deliverables may include, but are not limited to, Sales, Revenue Performance, System Availability, Dispatch Availability, and System Reliability metrics.

In this position, you will gain valuable experience and learn new skills while working on exciting and challenging projects

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Collect, prepare, and process large amounts of data from various sources.
• Use machine learning and data analysis tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Create reports and visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Continuously improve data quality and data analysis processes.
• Update data science tools to present new metrics and dashboards to stakeholders.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data analysis.

Minimum Requirements

• Junior or Senior in college pursuing a degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools.
• Good use of Microsoft Excel for local data manipulation and storage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Regular attendance and punctuality is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s degree.
• Good use of Microsoft Excel for local data manipulation and storage.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools such as MongoDB, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
• Knowledge of Databricks a major plus.
