AbbVie’s Operations Business Insights (OBI) group is continuously innovating to transform AbbVie operations organization to enable the use of data and analytics to drive world-class innovation, performance, and agility across many functional areas.

We are looking for an Associate Data Scientist with entry-level experience in Software Engineering and Data Engineering who aspire to further advance in Data Science skills.

The Associate Data Scientist will assist in bringing machine learning solutions to life by translating business requirements into deployable applications, using complex SQL queries for data query and writing efficient R/Python codes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the team with the analysis of business requirements and developing solution recommendations to create positive impact on the team
  • Apply software engineering concepts to production-grade code development and machine learning application deployment
  • Apply data engineering concepts to aggregate disparate data sources into standardized formats such as STAR schema, normalized and de-normalized forms, for analytical usage
  • Utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, clean, analyze, and interpret large data sets and apply principles of data science to data analysis and model development
  • In collaboration with more senior team members, generate reports with findings and help to communicate these effectively via written, oral, and visual dashboard/presentation methods

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 1+ year of experience or Master’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
  • Self-starter and should be able to align, adapt and manage to changing requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic environment

Required Skills (Note: professional experience preferred for all the below):

  • Academic experience (at minimum) with a variety statistical languages and packages, such as R, Python, etc. Expectation is proficiency in at least one of Python or R
  • Academic experience (at minimum) with applying software engineering concepts, such as Operating System principles, Design Patterns, and Data Structures for production-grade code development
  • Experience with data cleaning and transformation techniques, such as consolidation, normalization, standardization, imputation, aggregation, and performing exploratory analysis prior to statistical analysis or machine learning
  • Academic experience (at minimum) working with modern relational databases and writing complex SQL queries
  • Academic experience (at minimum) using visualization techniques for presenting data and analysis as dashboard in tools such as R/Shiny, ggplot, Tableau, Qlik and Custom web-based solutions

Additional useful Experience:

  • Professional Experiences in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Machine Learning
  • Knowledge of Agile Project management processes
  • Working knowledge of Data Science tools like Dataiku, AWS SageMaker etc.
