Team Introduction

We are the Speech, Audio and Music Intelligence (SAMI) team at TikTok and are based in North America, APAC and Europe. Our mission is to empower content distribution and creation through multimodal audio technologies. We focus on cutting-edge R&D in speech, audio, and music processing. We are looking for top talents to work on speech/audio/music algorithms, integrate them into various products and ultimately bring the joy to our global user base!

This Internship Program is for 12 weeks duration beginning in May/June 2023. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following summer internship cycles below:

• May 22, 2023 to August 11, 2023
• May 29, 2023 to August 18, 2023
• June 12, 2023 to September 1, 2023

We will prioritize candidates who are able to commit to these start dates. Please state your availability clearly in your resume (Start date, End date).

Responsibilities:

• Own a research project in music creation.
• Build prototypes of data-driven music products.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in computer science, mathematics, engineering or related field
• Experience in one or more areas of music intelligence and deep learning, including but not limited to:
  • Music information retrieval
  • Multimodal learning
  • Generative models
  • Interactive music creation
  • Digital signal processing for music

Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Publications in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML.
• Familiar with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch and Tensorflow.
• Highly competent in algorithms and programming; Strong coding skills in C/C++ and Python.
• Familiar with music production.
• Familiar with engineering principles and best practices
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, multi-functional environment.

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45- $45.​
