GeoCompy’s Data Science team focuses on improving Anti-fraud system, turning business requirements into DS/ML solutions and researching best-in-class technologies. As the Principal Data Scientist, you will supervise and contribute to the research and development roadmap of the group. You will turn business requirements into DS/ML solutions. You must have experience in setting the standard for our research process, guide and mentor researchers, iterative development cycles, bring ML idea from research to production and have a great passion for working in fast-paced development process environments. The ideal candidate for this role is a person with a strong Data Science background, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of business needs and leverage that knowledge to deliver best-in-class solutions for the Data Science team;
  • Build and own a research roadmap for the Data Science team in collaboration with the Product Development group;
  • Build and improve cross-functional baseline; work closely with Data Science, ML Engineering, Data Engineering and DevOps teams to optimize the strategy of cross-work;
  • Embrace a business and technical mindset to develop solutions at scale;
  • Review and provide guidance on existing research projects;
  • Use strong technical expertise to rapidly formalize, prioritize and move forward new initiatives;
  • Standardize and supervise the research process ;
  • Provide senior-level guidance for junior researchers;
  • Work on improvement of the codebase. Create a standard and define the best coding practice.

Who You Are

  • You have 10+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics;
  • You have 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership position; Exceptional leadership and management skills with experience building and managing high-performing teams;
  • You have 3+ years of experience in ML/DS Anti-fraud domains (or adjacent domains);
  • You have excellent knowledge of machine learning approaches (e.g., clustering algorithms, random forest, neural networks, support vector machines);
  • Have strong programming skills in Python and fluency in data manipulation (SQL, Spark);
  • You’re experienced with main ML frameworks (scikit-learn, XGBoost) and experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.);
  • You have experience in the development and deployment of predictive models or ML systems in a cloud environment (i.e AWS:SageMaker, ECS, S3, GCP);
  • You have practical experience with Big Data tools;
  • You’re experienced in liaising with technical teams, with the ability to communicate and recommend solutions to fit the customer’s technical requirements.
  • High-level experience in conducting research and ability to explain key findings to varied audiences.
  • You are a solutions-focused problem solver who always sees a path forward to success.
  • You are an exceptional communicator and can build relationships with anyone you work with.
  • You are organized and have fantastic attention to detail, aiming higher and higher each day.
  • You always act with integrity and operate with strong moral principles.
  • You have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support a rapidly growing technology company with multiple moving parts.

$208,000 - $260,000 a year

This is the typical salary range for this position. The base pay offered may vary depending on a variety of factors including, your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
