About this Role:

As the Director of Data Science and Analytics at Mynd, you will be at the forefront of driving the company's growth and success. Your role is critical in developing and operating innovative data science technologies that leverage analytics, statistics, and machine learning to drive product development and inform business decision-making at scale.

Mynd operates as a complex 4-sided marketplace, balancing value creation and extraction between four important stakeholders: property investors, residents, technicians, and property managers. Your contribution in this area will be essential, as you bring your expertise to the table and help create a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Responsibilities

• Establish a clear vision and mission for the data science department by working closely with senior business, product, and engineering leaders to develop strategic goals and direction for the company's Data Science platforms, as well a create a roadmap of data science projects
• Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of all data analytics and science initiatives, ensuring their success and alignment with company goals
• Institute best data science practices and grow the technical capabilities of the team to raise the data science functional bar through hiring, mentoring, and supporting the career growth of data team members at varying levels of experience
• Develop analytical frameworks, models, roadmaps, and metrics for the team and broader organization
• Define the roadmap of how Generative AI will inform the product roadmap. Inclusive of leveraging external generative AI technology as well as evolving Mynd’s strategy on how to use reinforcement learning from current users to refine models to Mynd use cases
• Build a data-driven culture throughout the entire company by serving as a champion for data science and informed decision-making at all levels of the company, as well as making analytical techniques approachable and understandable to non-technical stakeholders
• Conceive, develop, implement, and continually improve machine learning projects
• Work with cross-functional partners and executives to define and achieve business goals, build data-informed business strategy and roadmaps, and improve the customer experience by leveraging data science, machine learning, and other analytical techniques

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (e.g., M.S. or PhD) in computer science, statistics, engineering, mathematics or relevant discipline
• 7+ years of experience managing Data Science teams
• 10+ years of experience working in Data Science in Tech companies
• Experience working with Product and Engineering teams with data science as en embedded function in the software development process
• Proficient in model development using Python and SQL
• Talent magnet: Evidence of attracting and hiring top talent from ICs through leadership level
• Org change leader: Successful change-management leader with the proven ability to transform/optimize the structure of a data science organization
• Process builder: Developed key processes to scale tech organizations (defined leveling rubrics, performance management processes, quality control processes, build/buy decisions, operational excellence)

Preferred Qualifications

• Owned Data Science for a platform (consumer, commerce, or B2B) or marketplace
• Entrepreneurial technical leader who has experience in a scaled environment (Startup and/or big tech experience)
• Experience working in PropTech or regulated environment like FinTech, HealthTech
• Experience working in a compliance environment with a focus on PII and AI bias
• Experience working with generative AI technologies is a plus

Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation.

Compensation:

$192,000 - $260,000 annually. The compensation range may be adjusted based on experience and location.
