Job Description

As a software engineer for mapping & localization for self-driving trucks, you will work on designing algorithms to build HD-map from various sensor data, accurately localize vehicles on the map, and support efficient map query in the runtime for other modules like perception, prediction and planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and test state-of-the-art algorithms and software for mapping & localization based on a multi sensor fusion approach using GPS, IMU, cameras, Lidars for self-driving trucks.
• Continuously measure and improve the performance metrics of the mapping & localization system based on data collected by company and partner fleets
• Work in a cross-functional environment to understand the requirements and performance of other system components such as perception, prediction, planning, control, simulation and data infrastructure
• Work with the operations team to communicate requirements around data collection, preprocessing, labeling, testing, and analysis 

Required Skills

• 1+ years of experience with multiple sensor systems like LiDARS, IMUs, Cameras.
• 1+ years of experience in developing, implementing, and testing mapping & localization algorithms, such as SLAM, ICP, Kalman filtering.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Python
• Strong written and verbal communications
• Self-motivated, comfortable operating without direct supervision

Preferred Skills

• Master's degree or PhD in a related technical field
• Understanding of the state-of-the-art in mapping & localization for self-driving vehicles
• Experience in developing software for automobile industry
• Examples of your work such as open source projects and/or conference or journal publications
