Summary

The Collaborative Data Services Core (CDSC) Data Analyst II Identifies data-related business requirements from research customers and translates these requirements into an executable data query. Database-centric responsibilities include mining, aggregation, wrangling, and trend analysis for health research customer use. Possesses functional knowledge of database query standards, reproducible programming, and best practices for working with protected health information. This position may focus on obtaining specific patient information for the Cancer Center and will utilize a range of source systems including the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

The Ideal Candidate will demonstrate:

• Experience with EMR Data Abstraction

• Ability to collate/review data for submission monitoring for outliers, error processing and validation.

• Experience with data management of extensive data sets

• Effective time managing skills and ability to identify barriers that may cause a change in deadlines or meeting requested proposal, particularly with respect to data science workflows.

• Ability to adapt to changing business process requirements.

• Proficiency with MS Office, markdown, html, or similar applications and software to present data.

• Ability to utilize critical thinking skills and understand rules and regulations regarding privacy and confidentiality of patient information.

• A CTR or CHDA certification would be helpful

Credentials and qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Health Sciences, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, or other related field is required.

• Three (3) years directly related experience querying/tidying/summarizing research data in a hospital or healthcare environment.

• In lieu of Bachelor's degree an additional 4 years recent experience as a data analyst/abstractor for a total of seven (7) years of experience may be considered.

Preferred qualifications:

• 5 years directly related experience with a focus on oncology research and/or treatment. Experience using data query/reporting/visualization tools (R, Shiny, SQL, Python, SAS) or similar enterprise business intelligence applications (QlikView, Tableau, Power BI). Experience using electronic data capturing/workflow methodology software (REDCap) for designing clinical and translational research databases. Git-based version control experience. Use of cloud-based data workflows, particularly AWS or Snowflake
