About our group:

Seagate Research Group (SRG) conducts research to transform Seagate’s technical expertise, innovation, and manufacturing excellence into innovative technologies for the rapidly growing datasphere.

SRG’s Software and Applied AI Research section conducts research by applying machine learning to Seagate’s advanced projects, products, and processes. We use state-of-the-art ML methods to develop applications and proof-of-concepts. Our projects include applying ML in the following areas - video surveillance, predictive maintenance for Hard Disk Drives (HDD), optimizing data storage solutions, sensor-fusion for augmented reality and more.

About the role - you will:

• Support the implementation of machine learning algorithms on one or more of the following Project(s)/Product(s)
• Ensemble video and Natural Language Processing (NLP) neural networked based for surveillance applications
• Predictive analytics for HDD applications
• Optimize data flow throughput for storage solutions
• Solutions for AI at the edge
• Support AI-workload profiling and analysis
• Apply neural network compression techniques
• Partake in edge AI applications

Your experience includes:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or other related fields
• Proficiency in Python, Tensor Flow, Pytorch, R, and one other lower-level programming language (C/C++ or Java)
• Exposure to some Mathematical environment (linear algebra, statistics, optimization, calculus)
• Understanding of Machine Learning/Deep Learning and existing frameworks such as Tensorflow and/or PyTorch
• Experience in one or more of the following:
• Machine Learning for video analytics and NLP
• Applied reinforcement learning algorithms like Q-Learning or genetic algorithm applied in practical application
