We are looking for a Research Engineer to join our User Modeling and Personalization Research Team, for the Behavior in Context initiative! Our team develops innovative techniques for modeling user behavior, empowering our business partners to build world-class user-centric ML systems for Snap.

What you'll do:

• Support research projects in machine learning and data mining
• Collaborate with product/engineering teams to translate research projects into products
• Partner with Research Scientists for prototyping and experimentation
• Build robust, lasting, and scalable systems

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Ability to solve open-ended / ambiguous problems
• Proficiency in machine learning approaches, statistics, and modeling
• Desire to learn and help others
• Strong Machine learning engineering skills 
• Strong computer science fundamentals

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS/BA in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, or related field
• 3+ years of industry experience as a machine learning engineer or research engineer
• Experience coding in python and using SQL or similar big data querying language
• Experience working with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, Spark ML, scikit-learn, Hugging Face, or related frameworks

Preferred Qualifications:

• Building scalable systems and using distributed data processing frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, and/or Dataflow 
• Experience with NLP techniques
• Experience with Enterprise Cloud solutions like Google Cloud, AWS, and/or Azure
• Experience with data analysis
• Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, or related field
• Experience with Java and/or R
• Experience with causal inference techniques, experimental design, and/or A/B testing

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

• Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): The base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $250,000 annually
• Zone B: The base salary range for this position is $166,000 - $238,000 annually
• Zone C: The base salary range for this position is $149,000 - $213,000 annually

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs
