Who we are

Optimal Dynamics is on a mission to automate and optimize the logistics industry through the use of advanced analytics. We are based on more than three decades of R&D at Princeton University and represent the most sophisticated technology ever developed for the logistics industry. Optimal Dynamics is a high-growth early-stage company with ~75 employees (but changing very quickly!) and $56M in funding.

We can solve problems individually, but understand that the best solutions are found when the team brainstorms ideas together. We are excited about balancing the need to deploy new solutions quickly and designing solutions that are secured, reliable, maintainable and scalable for the long run.

First and foremost, this position requires experience in both object-oriented programming in python and a strong background in machine learning. Although this position is remote, candidates in greater NYC area that can be hybrid are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • In the onboarding stage, senior members of the ML team will get you up to speed on our technologies and help you develop your skill set to the point where you can contribute to the development of cutting edge optimization and AI tools for the logistics industry
  • Heavily engaged in the software development life cycle (research, design, experimentation, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance) to ensure stability and quality of the codebase
  • Research and implement best practices to enhance our existing machine learning infrastructure in production environments
  • You will have the freedom to ideate and apply novel methodologies and techniques
  • You will have the ability to learn directly from leaders in the field of AI and optimization

Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in probability, statistics, and Monte Carlo simulation
  • Significant experience with object-oriented programming in python
  • Knowledge of software design patterns
  • Experience with machine learning models for time series forecasting
  • Experience with common ML/data science packages (e.g. pandas, sklearn)
  • Experience writing and refactoring production-level code, familiarity with unit and integration tests
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues and find resolutions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) best practices
  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS preferred)
  • 3+ years of industry experience or an MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field

Salary:

  • $140,000-160,000
