Data Science and Knowledge Discovery Department (DataSci) at SimulaMet (Oslo, Norway) has an opening for a researcher in data mining/machine learning. DataSci aims to advance the frontiers of machine learning and data mining by developing novel methods to analyze complex data sets and reveal underlying patterns. In doing so, we enhance knowledge discovery in real-world applications in a range of fields. This research scientist position will involve interactions with multidisciplinary groups consisting of applied mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, statisticians, biologists, chemists, and clinical researchers. Candidates are expected to have an interest in fundamental methodological developments as well as impactful applications. This is a permanent researcher position that comes with a competitive salary and a generous start-up package (that may involve funding for a PhD student position depending on the level of experience). The place of work is Oslo, Norway. Tasks include conducting research, supervising junior researchers, publishing high quality papers, disseminating research findings, research-based education (when relevant) and attracting external funding.
