Job Description

The UberSTAR program is a 12-week paid internship for undergraduate fresher and rising sophomores. This program is for current college students interested in working in technology and full-time opportunities with Uber. You will be embedded in a team and work closely with data scientists and engineers under the supervision of an analyst on that team.

UberSTAR is a program open to all eligible students and is especially committed to exposing students historically underrepresented in this field to career opportunities in the industry. What You'll Do

• Collaborate with your designated mentor to define the problem, scope your project, develop and prototype the solution, and measure the impact
• Conduct deep data analysis to drive business decisions
• Develop and validate critical data pipelines
• Develop and monitor product metrics via dashboards to measure the performance of Safety/Eats/Rides products
• Partner with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to understand product roadmaps and associated business questions, analyze data to provide insight into those questions, and present findings
• Collaborate with partners, cross-functional teams, and senior management

Basic Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Economics, Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Physics or other quantitative fields
• Must have completed an introduction to statistics course!
• Must be a first-year or sophomore (2nd year) class standing at the time of application!

Preferred Qualifications

• Coding proficiency in SQL.
• Basic understanding of experimental design and statistical methods.
• 0-2 years of prior work experience in an analytical setting.
• Organized, detail oriented and able to work independently on multiple projects at once.
• Outstanding communication skills to partner effectively and efficiently across Teams.
• Self starter, taking initiative and keeping relevant partners in the loop.
• Open to feedback, excellent at implementing newly learned ideas and concepts.
• Experience with Excel and some dashboarding experience (i.e. Tableau, Mixpanel, Looker)

About the Team

The Core Analytics & Science Team (CAS) is Uber's primary science organization, covering both our main lines of business as well as the underlying platform technologies on which those businesses are built. We are a key part of Uber's cross-functional product development teams, helping to drive every stage of product development through data analytic, statistical, and algorithmic expertise.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base hourly rate amount for this role is $46.00 per hour.
