Job Description

We are looking for a Data Science Intern for our Sports Modeling & Innovation team to help tackle our most challenging sports modeling problems. You will assist with creating predictive models which are used to build tools and dashboards, price the markets you see on our sportsbook, and drive actionable insights across FanDuel Group. You will be working closely with the product and risk and trading teams, modeling player performance, team performance, and game outcomes among other challenges. You will promote effective communication of model outputs and contribute to a collaborative code environment.

THE GAME PLAN:

• Participate in the development of machine learning models to predict sports outcomes
• Work with a mentor to understand and improve on betting product range to ensure market leading offerings
• Manage the data preparation process from collection through cleaning
• Assist in the building of robust predictive models, showing capabilities of feature and model selection
• Join the process of creating data visualizations for analysis and communication to stakeholders

THE STATS:

What We're Looking For In Our Next Teammate

• Currently pursuing a MS degree in a highly numerate major (Math, Stats, Econ, CS, etc.) and/or relevant experience in data science
• Passion for building models – side projects for areas of interest are a big plus
• Proactive learner with an ability to work independently
• Analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Python or R, and SQL
• Excited to learn about building and using models to help create production level products and tools
• Able to take ownership for your tasks and see features through from start to finish
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Interest in Sports Gaming and/or Fantasy Sports
• December 2023 – May 2024 graduate

The applicable hourly range for this position is $40.00 to $50.00 which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation.
