Job Description

Fors Marsh is seeking an experienced, intelligent, and motivated Researcherfor our COVID-19 Evaluation team, which is implementing and evaluating a federally funded COVID-19 public education campaign as well as other campaigns. This individual’s primary responsibility would be to lead complex analyses and writing in support of evaluation efforts for a national public education campaign to fight COVID-19. Selected individuals will be responsible for leading analyses and coordinating with project teams to successfully complete project deliverables. Specific duties include determining the approach to analyses; coordinating with other team members to execute analyses; preparing, reviewing and providing feedback on deliverables—this may include technical writing describing methods, results, and discussion of findings; and quality control of analyses. We are open to full-time remote employees.

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing manuscripts for submission to peer reviewed journals and conducting literature reviews in the fields of public health, health communication, communication, social marketing, social and behavior science, and similar areas.
  • Conducting literature reviews and secondary analyses; distilling findings into actionable next steps for creative, media, and outreach colleagues.
  • Summarizing relevant theoretical foundations.
  • Using statistical programs like Stata, analyzing data and interpreting results from descriptive and inferential analyses to identify patterns and solutions.
  • Conducting quality assurance of analyses conducted by other team members.
  • Preparing presentations, memos, written reports, written proposals, and other internal or external communications summarizing research methods, findings, and implications for scientific and non-scientific (lay) audiences.
  • Overseeing project tasks and deliverables and collaborating with colleagues on a day-to-day basis to work under tight deadlines to fulfill client requests.
  • Directly interfacing with team members and clients to understand their needs, manage their expectations, respond to ad hoc requests, and communicate the most pertinent results to them in a way that is useful and easy to understand.
  • Creating and updating Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) packages.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health, communication, marketing, advertising, psychology, or related field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional research experience or post-graduate training in health communication, public health, communication, social sciences, such as marketing, advertising.
  • Peer-reviewed journal publishing experience in public health, communication, marketing, advertising, psychology, or related fields.
  • Strong grasp of health behavior and communication theories.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to concisely write scientific methods and results in plain language so they can be understood by non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member or leader.
  • Demonstrated experience writing, executing, and interpreting code/syntax in Stata (preferred, R also acceptable).
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse data sources.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new research topic areas, methods, and analytic approaches.
  • Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD. in public health, communication, marketing, advertising, psychology, or related field.
  • Experience implementing health equity research and conducting analyses using an intersectional lens.
  • Experience in applied research as part of a government contract.
  • Experience working with government agencies such as FDA, CDC, or HHS.
  • Experience working with weighted data.

Salary: $88,000- $114,000

Location: Remote. United States Residents only.
