Job Description

Location: Houston, Texas

Seismic imaging is an extremely computationally demanding task, and achieving top levels of performance with our production codes on the latest HPC platforms is critical for our business success. We are looking for a talented and creative HPC developer with proven skills, who can work with our industry-leading team of geoscientists, mathematicians and engineers to squeeze every drop of price performance out of the latest HPC platforms.

The main responsibilities for this position are:

• Implement computationally intensive imaging algorithms on the latest available HPC platforms, redesigning the software architecture as hardware trends evolve and we move to higher-fidelity methods
• Profile imaging codes to find and eliminate current performance bottlenecks
• Evaluate and help make decisions on hardware choices
• Work with cloud vendors to ensure available node shapes are tuned for our applications
• Work with other members of the R&D team to develop new algorithms in seismic imaging, inversion, and model building, adapt recent innovations from computing technology, applied mathematics

Job requirements:

• Proven experience programming for high-performance computing environments using C++ and CUDA, including parallel computing, performance profiling and CPU/GPU optimization.
• Familiarity with emerging trends in HPC architecture
• MS in Computer Science/Computational Physics/Applied Math or equivalent knowledge level.
• Minimum 3 years of direct experience 
• Strong background in applied mathematics/physics, especially in numerical methods and linear algebra
