What Do We Do?

Business Unit: Corporate IT

We automate manufacturing processes at the Athens, Alabama facility leveraging technology to drive performance to higher levels. We strive to respond quickly and efficiently in supporting the needs of our operations and leveraging all aspects of technology along with a diverse skillset to continuously improve the customer experience.

Ongoing Projects

  • Programming Enhancements for our Manufacturing and Execution System (MES) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
  • Rolling out a new process camera system for monitoring and identifying issues in our manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration with operational managers and operators to understand business processes that we can in turn automate or streamline.
  • HMI upgrades and modernization of existing systems.
  • Digitization of data and assisting with the generation of data pipelines that can assist operations with data analysis.
  • Developing reports and other tools that operations can leverage to get the data they need to make decisions quickly.

Your Role as a Co-Op

  • Gather requirements, implement changes, perform code promotion, and support operations from a development perspective. 
  • Work with the process camera system we are implementing to generate user views and research other uses for the variety of other features the system offers.
  • Work in a team setting and gain valuable insight from individual team members who have been working in the manufacturing industry and are knowledgeable in plant systems.
  • Gain hands on experience working in a data center and functional areas to gain insight into manufacturing.

What Do We Require?

You must be:

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Green Card Holder.
  • Willing and able to work at our Athens, AL facility.
  • Knowledgeable of programming languages (C#, .NET, Blazor, Python, Java-script)
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Information Systems, or a related field of study.

Pay Scale

Hourly rate is based on: 1 – Current program of study; 2 – Degree type (i.e., Bachelor's, Master's); 3 – Progression in degree program (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range is $18.50 - $23.50 per hour for Bachelor's degree students.
