Job Description

The Marketplace team works is responsible for matching passenger requests with available Chauffeurs. Their areas of responsibility are pricing, dispatching/matching protocols and incentives. Their success criteria are to maximize welfare (i.e. reliability, utilization) and to avoid a known failure mode of ride-hailing marketplaces known as the wild goose chase.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Staff Applied Scientist, your mission will be to build Wheely’s marketplace strategies to drive welfare (reliability, utilization) through initiatives like pricing, dispatch/matching and incentives. 

You will:

• Build statistical, economic and machine learning models for pricing, dispatch/matching and incentives.
• Work with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers and product managers to solve ambiguous problems and implement algorithms in production.
• Collaborate with Wheely’s privacy team to incorporate novel approaches to protect clients’ movements.

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
• Ph.D. in Operations Research or Economics.
• Preferably experience of turning algorithms into production systems.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Strong programming skills in Python or similar language.
