What is the internship program?

The Dolby U internship program offers impactful, project-based work experience in a collaborative, creative environment where you work with industry leaders. It is a great way to get exposure to cool technologies, hone your skills, and build a pathway toward full-time opportunities with Dolby.

Our Advanced Technology Group will offer multiple intern research roles during the summer of 2023, working on an exciting array of technology areas.

As a Dolby intern, you could use signal processing and machine learning/AI to create immersive audio and visual experiences in the home or develop novel algorithms that enable the next generation of Dolby products.

Eligibility:

Working towards a Masters/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; recent grads within six months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, for three months between May/June –Aug/Sept 2023.

What are we looking for in candidates?

Along with your solid technical skills, candidates should demonstrate problem-solving and analytical abilities, good communication and collaboration skills, a curiosity for how and why things work as they do, and a passion for audio, video, immersive, movies, music, or game technology.

We have several Imaging Research projects for candidates to explore. While the specific projects will be jointly determined by the interns and mentor team, below are listed some possible areas of investigation:

Areas of Focus

  • Audiovisual content analysis and enhancement
  • AI multimodal representation
  • Real-time human sensing for interactive applications
  • Immersive experiences and personalization
  • Neuroscience and human perception
  • Deep learning-based computer vision and audio processing

Qualifications

  • Working towards a master’s/Ph.D. degree in Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Neuroscience, or related field
  • Experience working with deep learning architectures for audio or/and video processing.
  • Experience with data analysis and statistics modeling.
  • Ability to prototype quickly, with adept critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented work ethic.
  • Programming experience in Python and Pytorch or TensorFlo
  • Proven track record of writing technical reports and/or publications is a plus.
