Job Description

As a full-time Scientist or Senior Scientist in the Bioscience team, you will advance our R&D technology platform for RNA structure prediction, target identification, and early drug discovery. You will implement existing and invent new functional genomics methods to determine the structure-function relationship for RNA. As an early employee, you will proactively shape the scientific and strategic vision of the company.

At Atomic AI, you will be an execution-focused self-starter with a passion for scientific research and a positive attitude when facing challenges. You will prioritize effectively amidst complexity, adapt nimbly to changing conditions, and grow outside of your comfort zone. You will collaborate thoughtfully and promote the success of all team members.

Primary responsibilities

  • Implement and invent methods using sequencing-based readouts to characterize RNA function and regulation in high throughput.
  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments and develop data analysis pipelines to understand RNA structure-function relationships.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee research associates.
  • Analyze, interpret, and organize data, and clearly document and communicate research outcomes to colleagues.
  • Work within a collaborative, high-caliber, interdisciplinary team.

About you

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field.
  • Deep expertise in RNA structure, regulation, or engineering.
  • Experienced applying functional screening to RNA mechanisms, such as splicing detection, ribosome footprinting, polysome profiling, or CRISPR screening.
  • Track record of developing and optimizing novel next-generation sequencing assays.
  • Proficient in data analysis using Python (or similar language) and common bioinformatics tools.
  • History of scientific achievement, as evidenced by publication of impactful papers.
  • Organized and rigorous in recording methodologies and results.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills, able to clearly communicate technical information to colleagues.

Pluses

  • 3+ years of relevant industry or post-doctoral research experience.
  • Experienced developing reporter assays for pooled or arrayed cellular screening.
  • Familiar with concepts and methods in early drug discovery.
