Job Description

Maxar is looking for a Machine Learning Engineering Tech Lead. We use quick iteration and regular feedback to prototype for customers, both internal and external, to provide Machine Learning Solutions that move work from experimentation to production in short order.

We pair our Machine Learning development leads with a Technical Program Manager to assist in gathering customer requirements, people management and agile development processes. The ML Development Lead is expected to execute against feature requests from a wide variety of customers, provide technical guidance to all team members, and coordinate with the ML Operations Technology Lead to help drive schedule. The ML Development Lead will be responsible for the technical architecture of the Applied Machine Learning API at Maxar.

Day-to-day with your colleagues:

• You'll be developing an Applied Machine Learning framework that will be used across the company to accelerate the transition of ML from research to production. 
• We work in very Lean Agile environment without the overhead associated with traditional Scrum. We’ve eliminated unnecessary development meetings and we love it!
• You’ll collaborate with our geographically dispersed team primarily via Zoom & Slack. 

Our team’s minimum requirements for this position:

• US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
• 10 to 15 years of development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Systems Engineering, etc.), or equivalent experience. 
• Strong Python skills.

Recent experience with some of the following technologies: 

• AWS/C2S/S3 
• Object Oriented Programming methodologies 
• Understanding of Database Technologies
• GitHub, GitLab, or BitBucket. 

If you also had these skills that’d be amazing:

• Current/active TS/SCI clearance.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies, specifically frequent, iterative releases which rely on user feedback to refine features over time.
• Knowledge of Design Thinking principles.
• Experience with AWS Serverless Express, an AWS provided wrapper for Express.js integration with AWS Lambda.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to pass CI polygraph preferred but not required. 
• Machine learning development frameworks like: Pytorch, Lightning, GraphQL. 
• Database infra: Feast, Postgres, parquet, big query, redshift.
