What You'll Do

This role is within one of Flatiron’s cross-functional Custom Solutions team, which curates customized datasets and generates evidence and insights focused on answering life science customers’ specific research questions from retrospective real world data in Oncology. Specifically, this role will be embedded within the team which scopes, designs, and executes delivery of custom datasets and/or provides scientific and analytic services for delivery of evidence and insights to address real world use across the drug development lifecycle such as clinical development, market access, post marketing commitments and commercial planning. The Quantitative Sciences lead, for example, will engage with life science partners in understanding their use case needs, lead or review client deliverables such as protocol, statistical analysis plan, study reports, publications, etc. They will be expected to advance the goals of Flatirons’ custom solutions business through their scientific expertise in real world data, analytical methodologies, and translation of insights/evidence for our life science partners. As a leader on this team, you will:

  • Manage and lead a team of quantitative scientists, including mentorship, performance management, and career development
  • Be an active member of the Custom Solutions team, collaborating closely with clinical leads and other cross-functional leads providing strategic and technical leadership across ongoing and upcoming projects 
  • Provide high-level oversight, as well as be responsible for your own deliverables that include aspects such as defining and clarifying client needs, developing appropriate data or analytic solutions, interfacing with life science partners and key stakeholders, and hands-on interaction with the data and/or analyses (e.g., coding in R) 
  • Lead and contribute to operational efficiency initiatives towards growth and efficiency of the Custom Solutions businessDrive and lead life science partners engagement efforts including opportunities to collaborate on scientific research
  • Collaborate with a team of oncologists, product and operation managers, clinical data experts, regulatory and compliance specialists, and software engineers to discuss scoping of new projects, escalation of project issues, ensuring data quality and evidence standards
  • Evaluate Quantitative Sciences resourcing needs for current and future projects and specify optimal resourcing in collaboration with management 
  • As a senior QS team member, have a leadership presence at scientific conferences and meetings by making presentations, client engagement, and leading activities that advance the field of Real-World Evidence (RWE) research

Who You Are

You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who values the opportunity to think beyond the way things are. You are an analytical thinker with 5+ years of work experience in an industry, consulting, or academic setting. You are excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day.

  • You hold a Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as biostatistics, epidemiology, applied statistics, health economics, outcomes research, or a related discipline
  • You have experience in designing and leading real world evidence generation studies using a variety of RWD sources (such as longitudinal EMR, registres, claims, genomics data) and have methodological expertise in using observational data
  • You have experience in conducting analyses, writing protocols and statistical analysis plans, interpreting results from real world evidence studies, generating real world data insights and learnings from it, and developing biomedical communications (such as manuscripts, abstracts, executive summaries etc.) 
  • You have experience in real world evidence use cases across drug development life cycle and an understanding of how real world evidence can meet the needs of our life sciences customers 
  • You have experience working in life sciences companies, healthcare consultancy, or clinical research organization; you have experience in client interactions 
  • You have have people management experience in leading teams, overseeing multiple projects and working with a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders
  • You are a natural teacher; you have a passion for mentoring and teaching those of various backgrounds and levels of experience
  • You have good coding skills, ideally in R
  • You have the ability to juggle multiple external interactions and deadlines simultaneously and the adaptability to collaborate with individuals at all levels and functions
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills and a deep attention to detail
  • You are willing to travel (approximately 5-10%)

Job Compensation Range

Salary Range: $162,700.00 - $229,300.00

Preferred Primary Location: NYC Headquarters

The annual pay range reflected above for this position is based on the preferred primary location of the role which is listed in the job description. Salary ranges for other locations vary from the range reflected above. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
