Job Description

Our Full Stack engineering team in Amsterdam works on making this powerful platform simple and delightful to use for our customers, so we can make big data and AI easier for people everywhere. We develop the applications that are used to configure and visualize compute clusters and drive impactful UI infrastructure projects across the company. Our web applications are built on a stack that includes React+Redux, GraphQL, TypeScript and Scala.

Our engineering teams build highly technical products that fulfill real, important needs in the world. We constantly push the boundaries of data and AI technology, while simultaneously operating with the resilience, security and scale that is critical to making customers successful on our platform.

We develop and operate one of the largest scale software platforms. The fleet consists of millions of virtual machines, generating terabytes of logs and processing exabytes of data per day. At our scale, we regularly observe cloud hardware, network, and operating system faults, and our software must gracefully shield our customers from any of the above.

The impact you will have:

• Recruit an outstanding full stack engineering team, from sourcing to closing.
• Drive strategic vision for the team and product.
• Establish high technical standards through processes and culture.
• Mentor and coach engineers to help them carve out a fulfilling career.
• Work closely with the design and product teams to create simple, delightful experiences for complex problems.
• Deliver products and UI infrastructure to make our customers' lives better, and to support Databricks' record-breaking growth.
• Promote and uphold our cultural principles: be customer obsessed, be data-driven, team work makes the dream work, and own it.
• Manage technical debt and balance product roadmap.

What we look for:

• Experience building and leading teams developing modern user interfaces (preferably web applications) -or- demonstrated ability to quickly learn new concepts in a complex technical space.
• Experience attracting, hiring, and coaching excellent engineers. Can uplevel existing team by hiring top-notch senior talent, growing leaders, and helping struggling members. Can gain the trust of the team and guide their careers.
• Passion for user experience, design, and an understanding of front-end architecture.
• Comfort working cross-functionality with product management and directly with customers; ability to deeply understand product and customer personas.
• BS in Computer Science, Math, related technical field or equivalent practical experience in software engineering
