Job Description

As our Data Engineer you will be in charge of designing and implementing data pipeline and analysis tooling for our next generation of data driven factories. Every second our robots and the sensors generate a tremendous amount of data that needs to be properly captured, stored, analyzed, and modeled to enable new smart manufacturing technologies. These technologies will enable our leading aerospace and automotive customers to make parts faster, cheaper and enable production of parts that weren't possible. As an early member of our small team, you will own a significant portion of our product and the company. You’re responsible for the development and implementation of software to log messages and sensor data onboard various testing and production platforms, ingest logged data to the cloud, build API’s and tools used by engineers to annotate, access, analyze and model that data. You’ll play a key role in a small, fast-moving team by building the infrastructure required to support data-driven autonomous algorithms and AI model development.

Responsibilities

• Identify the data needed for a business or technical problem and implement logging required to ensure availability of data.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists to understand data needs, deploying proper tools to represent key data insights visually in a meaningful way.
• Manage and execute data pipelining plans for our factory, sensors and the robots.
• Design, build and launch new data models and visualizations in production, leveraging common development toolkits.
• Independently design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production, mentoring others around efficient queries.
• Build data expertise and leverage data controls to ensure privacy, security, compliance, data quality, and operations for allocated areas of ownership.
• Define and manage SLA for data sets in allocated areas of ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or M.S. in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data analytics.
• Expertise in Python, SQL, stream processing, data lakes, feature stores, analysis and visualization tools.
• Expertise in managing, storing, and analyzing time-series data.
• Experience with at least one programming language such as Python or Scala.
• Experience developing and maintaining data warehouses.
• Experience and knowledge of data and analytics such as dimensional modeling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data.
• Experience developing solutions on cloud computing services and infrastructure.
• Database development experience with a variety of relational, NoSQL and cloud database technologies.
• Experience working on a collaborative Agile product team.
• Practical interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
• Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
