Job Description

The Lead Engineer, Data Foundations will help the Content Discovery team to innovate and scale in terms of data-related efforts.You will be working closely on improving and innovating our data lake and bringing new ideas and concepts to our offline and online data pipeline architecture. Additionally, you will be architecting our data organization for easier access and consumption across product and analytics use cases.You will also work with our broader MLOps teams and data warehousing teams to align our data strategy with the rest of the organization. You will also lead and guide our frontend and backend engineers in improving our logging and experimentation best practices.Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will partner closely with multiple senior and principal engineers, data scientists and product managers to be driving our data and experimentation needs. You will be our first data-minded lead and visionary who will help the rest of the org to think about how to drive proper data-related efforts.

Why you’re a great fit:

• You have 5+ years of experience across various technical competencies for our stack including Python, AWS Services, SQL, Prefect/Airflow, and dashboard tools like Looker or Tableau.
• You have demonstrated success in collaborating with ML Engineers and Data Scientists in building data systems to help with launching ML models and experiences. 
• You are able to leverage your ability to build data systems from scratch, as well as optimize existing data systems to effectively build an offline ingestion system to crawl and index data from third-party systems and build a data lake that optimizes for bringing internal and external data together.
• You have been a technical lead for multiple teams and are comfortable with evangelizing and driving requirements towards a data-driven culture.
• You have experience in analyzing and building A-B experimentation systems. You also have a working knowledge of ML and have used it for metric anomaly detection and/or insights.
• You also have experience in working with client teams in driving logging requirements and in evangelizing the need for deeper instrumentation to drive product and data insights.
