Job Description

Title: Data Scientist, Computer Vision

Location: New York, NY

Terms: Full-time

Travel: None

Overview: This position will involve developing algorithms and models to process and enrich the image data that Premise collects. You will collaborate with diverse teams of data scientists, data analysts, program managers, mobile and backend developers. Depending on your interests and abilities, you will have the opportunity to innovate with machine learning, computer vision, data visualization, and geospatial data enrichment to enhance the value of Premise data internally and our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Create computer vision models that extract structured insights from crowdsourced images to help customers answer the questions they care about. 
• Develop algorithms to ensure that images collected through our app meet data quality standards. 
• Pull ideas from state of the art machine learning research and evaluate how well they perform in an applied setting. 
• Write production-level Python code to generate model predictions, and monitor the performance of models in production. This role goes beyond coding in a Jupyter notebook! 
• Collaborate with other data scientists, analysts, product managers, operations, and other departments to ensure products and technology meets internal standards.
• Apply mathematical rigor and a highly refined sense of both “where to look next” and “what to do instead” when performing modeling and analysis. 
• Communicate data collection and statistical methodologies to both technical and nontechnical audiences
• Identify and leverage opportunities to continually improve data quality, systems, processes, and standards.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS/MS in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, etc. or equivalent work experience & analytical skills.
• At least two years of full-time experience in a data-oriented role.
• Experience with Python and associated packages for data processing, statistical analysis, machine learning, and computer vision.
• Strong SQL skills
• Experience with computer vision methodologies
• Passion for learning and sharing knowledge with the team around you.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform is a plus
