Job Description

Karuna is seeking an experienced and motivated Real World Evidence Data Scientist to join our rapidly growing organization. Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of HEOR within Medical Affairs, this critical position will be responsible for designing and conducting RWE studies utilizing both internal and external data sources to support the overall HEOR strategy. This person will work in a highly cross-functional matrix team environment and is expected to have a strong commitment to achieving corporate objectives while maintaining the highest ethical, regulatory and scientific standards.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to HEOR strategy and execute on a cross-functionally aligned HEOR plan for lead and follow-on pipeline products.
  • Develop strategic analyses utilizing internal and external data assets that will support the lead and pipeline products in the peri-launch period.
  • Identify and collaborate cross-functionally on identifying additional sources of RWE. Ability to evaluate the rigor and limitations of emerging RWE data sources.
  • Develop scientifically robust study protocols and deliver publishable results.
  • Evaluate RWE resources for potential collaborative studies.

Required Qualifications

  • Required Doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, PharmD) with 5 years experience or Masters degree with 7 years experience. Experience in RWE/HEOR with at least 2 years of pharmaceutical/ biotech industry experience.
  • Advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis proficiencies.
  • Extensive experience with varying types of data sources including EHR, Claims Databases, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid environment and data sources as well as data from commercial plans.
  • A record of peer-reviewed publications demonstrating experience in designing and executing RWE studies.
  • The position is preferred to be East Coast based with the ability to come to the Boston office as needed.
  • Ability to travel, expected at 10-15%/year.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, allowing for an open and effective dialogue throughout the company.
