The SPE Business Intelligence Team supports the delivery of Data, Analytics and Insights across SPE Marketing, Theatrical Distribution, TV Distribution, TV Networks, TV Productions and Home Entertainment. The SPE BI ecosystem enables key decisions across the SPE Distribution Value Chain from Predicting Box Office to drive Media Buy Decisions and Releasing Strategy, TV series tracking and renewal predictions to identify future licensing opportunities, Tracking Audiences to forecasting Digital and Physical Sales and SVOD Consumption, Demand & Inventory Planning, Deal Analysis & Consumer Insights to drive Market Research via Ratings data and first party consumer data to help develop consumer closed loop models.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Science Solution Architect who is passionate about technology and supporting data-driven innovation leveraging advanced analytics (ML/AI) strategies to extract value from our data assets. Our ideal candidate is a “hands-on” type problem solver who will direct the detailed and strategic design, configuration, development, and QA initiatives within the SPE BI Eco-System as it relates to establishing, maintaining a best-in-class advanced analytics platform. The candidate needs to help deploy design patterns that maintain the right balance between cost and capability. The SPE BI Eco-System is constantly evolving, and the ideal candidate would help drive the direction of the platform. The ideal candidate will be required to drive the design pattern by actually implementing solutions blue printed. The Data Science Platform Architect will work closely with our Data Science Teams, business stakeholders, and engineering staff to understand the business needs and objectives and leverage his/her data science experience to map the business requirements in an end-to-end solution in support of the execution of key decision support models for Sony Pictures Entertainment. This is both a strategic (50%) role as well as tactical, hands-on (50%) role.

Responsibilities

AI/ML Architecture/Solutions

  • AI integration. One of the primary duties of AI architects is integrating AI into the overall IT infrastructure. Here’s an example: An organization wants to provide AI-powered customer service chatbots. The chatbot application will need to be integrated with other systems, such as customer relationship management (CRM), so that it can read and update records.
  • AI application programming.AI architects may sometimes have to help build brand new applications that run on an AI platform. Whether you’re building the apps yourself or managing a team of coders, you’ll need strong programming skills and a thorough understanding of the relevant APIs.
  • Change management.Leadership skills are a must in this management role. Because AI tends to lead to major changes, candidates need to be experienced in managing change projects from end to end. You’ll need to identify stakeholders and secure their buy-in, map processes and mitigate against disruption, oversee training and coaching for impacted staff, and use analytics to track the success of the project.
  • ML Ops.Research & develop Machine Learning models for security problems, in the areas of Networking, Application & Data Quality. Additionally, support the BYO Models from our Data Science Team where there will need help to tune and operationalize their models. Suggest, collect, and synthesize requirements and create effective features. Apply research methodologies to identify the Machine Learning models for the problem at hand. Provide Architectural and Tech leadership for all SPE BI ML Processes.
  • Feature Engineering & Store Maintenance & Design.Identify strategic data requirements of models. Determine how features will be stored and utilized. Assess the enterprise’s internal and external data features and design blueprint to manage the available features in an Enterprise Feature Store. Create inventory of enterprise’s features and store data in easily accessible format
  • Platform Architecture.Create a well-informed ML/AI cloud strategy/SaaS and manage the adaption process. Regularly evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software.Develop and organize ML/AI systems.Work closely with IT security to ensure compliance with SPE Information Security Standards.Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.Identify and conduct evaluations on new architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of the company.

Requirements

  • Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 5
  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree
  • Degree Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related areas
  • An advanced level of knowledge and actual implementation experience with one or more ML/AI Platforms (IBM CP4D, AWS Sage Maker & Airflow are a plus).
  • Experience with Enterprise Security processes, solutions and protocols
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Cloud Formation)

Skills Preferred/Must Haves: Demonstrate extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success to learn and perform within the following areas:

  • Lead consultative engagements with clients on the technical and business challenges related to their Models and Solutions
  • Present high-level overviews of the Data Science/ML/AI architecture and integration capabilities between systems and databases
  • Create, manage and present an actionable Blueprint that aligns a client's business needs to that of the Data Science solutions
  • Documenting customer problems and software solutions using BRDs/FSDs, wireframes, diagrams, workflows and mockups
  • Manage multiple client engagements and work with associated team members
  • Identify project issues / risks and present alternatives to alleviate or resolve
  • Produce deliverables within a diverse, fast paced environment, collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and juggle multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Has a strong sense of urgency, is able to prioritize requests, and can make informed decisions under pressure
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts in non-technical, business terms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enjoys collaboration with diverse teams & stakeholders
  • Passionate about movies, TV shows, technology and/or experience in the media & entertainment industry a plus
  • Intermediate to Advanced R programming skills – Should have hands on experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced Python programming skills – Should have hands on experience with Notebooks and DASH/Flask Apps
  • Intermediate C++ programming skills – Should have hands on experience

Knowledge Preferred/Nice to Haves: Demonstrates extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:

  • Strategic and technical thinking with the ability to consultatively engage with customers to quickly make complex decisions and lead customer facing discussions
  • Technical proficiency with Network Protocols and Services (DNS, HTTP, HTTPS); -Web-based On-Demand software solutions and familiarity with multi-tier, high availability application server environments and data architecture/schema
  • Deep understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Deep understanding of Serverless Architecture on AWS and GCP
  • Has some experience with Cloud NLP Services
  • Has AWS Certification related to Big Data & ML.
  • Has worked in consumer centric organization and worked with consumer data
  • Has worked with Teradata and /Snowflake as a Database
  • Collaborate to support an atmosphere of trust and seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation; answering questions and providing direction to less-experienced staff; coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal responses and recommendations
  • Development skills including:
  • RDBMS Modelling
  • WebServices
  • IBM Datastage or any ETL Tool Equivalent
  • Tableau or Power BI for visualization
