Job Description

In this role you will be responsible for empowering teams to make the best decisions possible building delightful experiences for consumers and Shefs across the country. You will define how and what we should collect and optimize for data-informed decision making. Your work will also influence team goals, find opportunities in the data to shift our product focus, and set a culture of rigorous experimental testing and iteration. You'll get to collaborate with a team that finds creative solutions to data puzzles. If we succeed, you will have fundamentally changed how people purchase food and the variety of healthy, affordable, and authentic food that they have access to.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Think like a Product Manager - Discover insights, opportunities, and requirements for new features and improvements
• Build the foundation of data - You will be responsible for choosing the right data sources, defining the structure of our data storage, owning experimentation, standardizing analyses, prototyping algorithms, etc.
• Enable operations with data insights & tools - Work closely with our city operations teams in order to nurture success in each market
• Define the bar for data quality, and what it means to make data-informed decisions
• Create the data culture at Shef and help others learn data literacy

QUALIFICATIONS

• Self-starter who is smart, creative, and hardworking
• 3+ years of data science experience working in an environment with large, diverse data sets
• Strong knowledge of experiment analysis, confidence intervals and statistical significance, and testing methodologies.
• Expert knowledge of SQL and either R or python
• Hands-on experience working with large data sets in a data warehouse
• Experience auditing data with internal and external sources
• Experience building predictive models in production environments
• Collaborative team-focused attitude with a strong desire to advance the product and learn new things
• Bonus for experience with funnel analysis and growth-stage analysis
• Bonus for past experience working on food & restaurant products or online 
• Bonus for experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran
