About:

As a Data Architect, you will help to define the vision and technical strategy, leading through innovation, for Paylocity’s products and architecture. In this role, you will serve as part of Paylocity’s technology leadership, working in an interdisciplinary manner with other teams to build and migrate applications, software, and services in the cloud. You will drive improvements in our cloud strategy and translate that strategy into executable deliverables that continues to innovate. Beyond this, you will work with a variety of roles across the company, including executive level.?

During the first three months, you will:

• Conceptualize and visualize how data will flow through the organization
• Build an inventory of data needed to implement architecture in alignment with the identified vision
• Define the database strategy for data storage and data mining
• Design, deploy, and manage the organization's data architecture
• Collaborate with teams to understand structural requirements and define standards for how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across the organization and translate into a usable blueprint
• Work in an interdisciplinary manner with other teams to build and migrate applications, software, and services
• Lead architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud
• Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge across our teams?
• Capture and share best practices across the organization
• Invest in relationships to break down silos and work across organizational boundaries

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience with distributed applications or systems architecture
• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture and database architecture (e.g., SQL Server, Aurora)
• Working experience with modern data architectures that might include data lakes, RDBMS, NoSQL DBs, DFS or Event Streaming Platforms
• A growth mindset. You enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and developing new ones. You regularly take part in deep-dive education and design exercises to create world-class solutions built on AWS
• Must be able to work effectively in an agile environment

Nice-to-have experience:

• 2+ years of experience architecting, and operating solutions built on AWS in complex enterprise environments
• Expertise in Data Quality, Data Profiling, Data Governance, Data Security, Metadata Management, MDM, Data Archival and Data Migration strategies using appropriate tools
• Familiar with one or more BI tools and reporting software (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Power BI)
