Job Description
The Data and Analytics team within Watts Water Technologies is responsible for Data, ETL, BI and Data Science for all Watts Water Technologies companies globally. The Senior Data Scientist is an important role reporting to the Director, Data and Analytics and will work very closely with Product and Engineering team on Internet of Things (IoT) related projects, as well as incorporating Data Science into traditional BI solutions. The Senior Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in planning, executing and delivering ML/AI projects across the organization. The Senior Data Scientist will be a key interface between Data & Analytics team, IoT/Digital Solution team, product and engineering, finance and other departments including IT. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Identify and guide the organization about the business opportunities related to ML/AI.
- Collaborate with Product & Engineering, IoT/Digital Solution, Marketing, Finance and Customer Service to provide ML/AI solutions
- Scope and Manage data science projects
- Partner with Engineering to optimize the arrangement and data flow of sensors across products, and develop software to analyze IoT devices across our product lines
- Work with Engineers to embed software into products
- Work with Product Management to identify new product features based on IoT insights
- Work with internal security resources to deliver solutions that adhere to privacy and security requirements
- Design and build ML/AI solutions to increase business value, e.g. Financial forecasting, cross-sell/up-sell, Cadence, Product recommender system, next best action, A/B testing, Customer selection for Campaign, eCommerce customer experience/recommendations
- Contribute to our strategic direction related to big data and leading-edge analytics
- Discover and leverage new internal/external data sources
- Define and Test hypotheses, apply statistical analysis
- Apply various ML/AI tools & methodologies to provide predictive/prescriptive solutions
- Establish best practices and governance related to ML/AI development, Infrastructure and MLOps
- Collaborate and guide other data scientists from outsourcing partners
- Train and coach other business and IT staff on basic data science principles and techniques
- Present ML/AI solutions and results/outcomes to senior management
- Prepare periodic written reports for management team regarding project status, keep management well informed of project status, and escalate issues as necessary
- Develop effective and positive working relationships with IT colleagues as well as Business stakeholders
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics or related field.
MANAGEMENT:
- This position does not have any direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6+ years of relevant experience in leading data science projects for various business functions.
- Preferably in Manufacturing domain and IoT products related.
- Expert in Python and others (R, Scala, Spark)
- Experience with ML/Deep learning techniques/algorithms (Regression, Classification, Clustering, Neural Network, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, SVM, graph analysis, computer vision etc.)
- Experience with Streaming Analytics and applied machine learning
- Experience with Big Data processing
- Experience related to agile methodology and DevOps/MLOps (MLFlow, Kubeflow)
- Experience with database programming languages SQL, PL/SQL
- Experience with Azure IoT Edge platform preferable
- Experience with Azure Databricks preferable
- Strong Analytical and critical thinking to solve business problems
- High proficiency in written and oral communication, ability to present to stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
