Job Description

We are seeking an experienced machine learning engineer to join our highly strategic AI/ML research team. This team is tasked with researching and developing new, and extending existing, approaches using ML strategies driving customer value across many use cases. You will use current research to advance our product offerings, lead educational sessions for the broader Alation community, and interface with Alation engineering and product teams to build out new use cases that leverage AI/ML models from inception to productization. You will also be instrumental in helping us further enhance a work culture that fosters continuous learning and growth.

What you'll do:

• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop new and improve existing AI/ML models supporting business use cases
• Research and prototype new ML approaches and strategies relevant to Alation product offerings
• Identify, qualify, and spearhead new machine learning use cases based on recent research
• Act as a subject matter expert in all aspects of machine learning, and further the AI/ML expertise within the broader engineering organization
• Stay current on the latest research and educate a broader internal audience
• Grow and enhance Alation’s engineering culture and policies

You should have:

• CS, math, physics, or equivalent MS or higher degree with 5+ years of experience working as a machine learning engineer or researcher with strong python skills, including 3+ years of experience developing, testing, and deploying deep learning models (using TensorFlow or PyTorch)
• A deep and broad understanding of machine learning algorithms, use cases, and implementations
• Deep hands-on expertise of current NLP approaches
• Solid knowledge and understanding of SQL
• Experience with BI tools, headless BI, data transformation, and data modeling approaches
• Very good communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to translate research papers into product use cases that open or expand business opportunities

Nice to have:

• Good understanding of MLOps processes and pipelines
• Experience with architecting for and deploying ML models into Amazon Web Services using AWS SageMaker
