The person in this role is accountable for leading a team of data scientists in key Emerging Markets, to shape Pfizer’s go-to-market model through delivery of data-science driven strategic and tactical decision support. This leader will be responsibilities across multiple business units, including partnering with Biopharma country leadership to understand strategic business needs, frame key issues and to ensure delivery of high-quality, data science services to these markets.
As a strategic partner to Medical and Commercial teams in these key markets, the person in this role will implement models and data-science derived insights that drive brands’ strategic priorities. This will include driving the execution and interpretation AI/ML models, framing problems, shaping solutions, and championing change. Also, this person will help shape the brands’ strategies and tactics by interfacing closely with Data Science COEs to develop bespoke AI/ML models to meet evolving needs, and interface closely with omnichannel-operations to drive execution.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Role definition and key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Team Leadership
- Set a vision and provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of a team of individual contributors
- Build data science and consultative talent and capabilities within this team and contribute to the broader talent building framework across BAI
- Implement data science insights, in collaboration with global BAI data science team, other BAI teams and multiple business units including Brands, Commercial, Medical, Operations, and Data Science COEs, as needed
- Lead prioritization framework and implementation for all BAI colleagues supporting the business
- Lead contractor and sourcing support to extend capabilities and maximize efficiency as needed
- Achieve team budget targets
Commercial and Medical Data Science and Insights
- Provide data science and insight leadership to Country Commercial leaders and Medical leadership to drive brand tactics decisions
- Act as strategic partner to frame, investigate, translate complex data related models, and answer key business questions related to the identification and evaluation of Commercial and Medical brand strategies and tactics
- Interface with Omnichannel-operations on execution and data science bespoke analytical needs
- Connect machine learning models and insights together to identify Medical and Commercial brand opportunities and tactics to execute
- Influence Country Medical and Commercial brand teams via compelling and persuasive story and deliver clear and actionable brand tactic recommendations to marketing teams
- Track and analyze impacts of Medical and Commercial brand strategies and tactics using dashboards and data products
Collaborate with Data Science COE
- Partner with Data Science COE to develop bespoke AI and machine learning models; Configure pre-built models and interpret updated results
- Ensure alignment with Data Science COEs teams to ensure cohesive activities with stakeholders
Collaboration with other BAI and Analytics teams
- Lead dialogue with local BAI teams to incorporate data science capabilities and insights into analytics plans and recommendations
- Contribute and inform the advancement of BAI data science and consulting capabilities through thought leadership; seek to share knowledge and expertise with other colleagues making use of knowledge sharing platform
- Ensure alignment with global BAI Data Science and Insights teams and Data Science COE teams to ensure cohesive activities with our stakeholders
- Partner with other analytic functions to advance the use of novel data sources, including RWD

- Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills

- Proven ability to connect, integrate and synthesize analysis and data into a meaningful ‘so what’ to drive concrete strategic recommendations for brand tactics. Capable of describing relevant caveats in data or in a model and how they relate to business question
REQUIRED BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in quantitative discipline like engineering or data science
- 9 years of work experience
- 8 years of work experience in business analytics function, country strategy and/or strategic consulting
- Experience with machine learning technology, such as: big data stack, Python, R, and visualization techniques
- Experience in understanding brand content, strategy, and tactics
- Ability to effectively utilize dashboards and data products to derive insights
- Understands quantitative and qualitative research methodologies Extensive experience in management of secondary data with application of real-world data
- Experience leading and achieving results through matrixed organizations; ability to maintain strong cross-functional and cross-team ties to influence colleagues outside direct reporting structure
- Senior Stakeholder management experience
- In depth experience using data science models to solve problems in a business environment setting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in business administration, statistics, or another relevant field
- Life Sciences industry experience
Other job details:
- Up to 20% travel may be required
- Must be able to work from a Pfizer site, at least 2-3 days per week
