At Kaiser Permanente Digital (KPD), you will be joining a host of data scientists, engineers, and product managers to solve some of the most fascinating and impactful problems in machine learning, causal inference, NLP, and graph theory. The algorithms you develop will champion members need to express their intent and our goal to understand their preferences, across devices (browser or app) and modalities (search, text, voice etc.).

You will leverage search, chat, click stream data and stich it to transactional data (e.g., pharmacy orders, scheduling virtual appointments, medical adherence) to develop AI/ML models that engage and converse with our members. These models will understand their goals and expectations to enable them to make the right healthcare decision. If you speak and think machine learning, then we want to talk to you. Examples of products include but not limited to: AI/Machine Learning models (e.g., recommendation engines, search, and/or personalization algorithms), user digital experiences such as health and wellness programs (e.g., living healthy, conditions and diseases), virtual doctor/nurse visits, managing chronic healthcare conditions via apps.

What You’ll Do

  • You will function as the ML/AI lead of the team, set the best practices for delivering complete ML solutions, influence analytics roadmaps, and interface with cross functional teams to understand/define their use cases.
  • Design, develop, and enhance predictive and behavioral models to identify moments or subgroups of interest, classify users or content, predict future behavior, drive personalization, and derive meaningful insights to guide to better product and decision making for our business leaders.
  • Participate regularly in high-level, cross-group, collaborative problem solving to improve the quality of the models you develop, extend the ways the company can use data to drive experiences that delight our users, and cement the status of the team as thought leaders.
  • Write, share, and present documents summarizing your findings and recommendations to all levels of the organization.
  • Participate in literature reviews and translate scientific practices to a wide range of data science domains across causal inference, experimentation, recommendation engines, and natural language processing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS or related field and Minimum two (2) years experience in Data Science, IT consulting, business analysis, or a related field. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree preferred in subjects such as: computer science, statistics, math, economics, or similar field.
  • Knowledge of most of the following quantitative fields: NLP, information retrieval, question answering / conversational AI, reinforcement learning, knowledge graph, graph theory, and design of experiment.
  • Product sense, understanding both how a product works and how that would impact user behavior.
  • Experience with new technologies in a production environment with product, IT, and data engineering teams.
  • Strong coding skills (e.g., Python, R, SQL), and familiarity with software engineering principles around testing, code reviews and deployment.
  • Experience collaborating with and understanding the needs of stakeholders from a variety of business functions.
