Job Description

Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Dash Button, Amazon Echo and Alexa. What will you help us create?

In this role, you will be a backend engineer and data expert with large scale impact on device security. You work tightly with other data engineers, security engineers and developers from other teams to create the data infrastructure and pipelines to drive our analytics from initial experimentation to production level deployment. You will build web services, dashboard, and data transforms to solve data engineering problems. You will help us build a high quality, reliable, accurate, consistent, and architecturally sound data sets that are aligned with our device security needs. You will experiment with machine learning to further automate your analysis.


  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in SQL
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline


  • 5+ years of industry experience in Software Development, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Science, or related field with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets
  • 5+ years of demonstrated quantitative and qualitative data experience with data modeling, ETL development
  • Knowledge of data modeling and experience SQL with Redshift, Oracle, MySQL, and Columnar Databases
  • Experience managing competing priorities simultaneously and driving projects to completion
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Design, implement and support an analytical data infrastructure using AWS big data technologies (Redshift, S3, EMR, etc.).
  • Experience using business intelligence reporting tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, or Cognos
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
  • Experience with statistical models, data mining and machine learning algorithms
