Job Description

As the Astrodynamics Engineer you will directly impact Slingshot’s vision; to accelerate space sustainability to create a safer, more connected world. You will develop algorithms and prototypes and apply advanced astrodynamics techniques to multi-sources of information. You will be responsible for the Integration of astrodynamics algorithms and libraries into Slingshot software products and engage in astrodynamics analysis, research, and development. Additionally, you will provide key support for product demonstrations, business development, and outreach activities. Your ability to collaborate in the drafting of journal and/or conference articles, and attending related events will be hugely beneficial your new role.

Pre-Requisites

  • Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for government clearances

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (MS) or, alternatively, 4 years experience in astrodynamics or aerospace engineering disciplines, with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: (a) orbit determination, (b) spacecraft navigation, (c) dynamic systems modeling and simulation, (d) space weather/environment modeling, (e) remote sensing, (f) high-performance computing, or (g) space operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in algorithm development and implementation in a formal programming language (e.g. python, java/kotlin, C/C++)
  • Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced, evolving operational environment that spans military, government, and industry partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Preferred Skills

  • 1+ published journal articles on a subject related to stochastic estimation for space flight
  • Experience in mathematical modeling as it relates to remote sensing for space flight
  • AI applications to modern problems in space flight or space traffic management.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and transitioning technology to production
  • Past development experience using open source astrodynamics libraries (e.g. orekit)
