Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems and solutions within the market they serve.

They use their knowledge to help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues and execute new practices that propel clients’ businesses toward key objectives. A Director publishes these insights as pragmatic and/or provocative research. Additionally, they reinforce Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits, Gartner conferences and industry events.

This is an individual contributor role and as a Gartner Analyst you will create and advise on a portfolio of Gartner research, communicate it to clients and support sales in new sales and client retention. Your research portfolio will provide insight, predictions and actionable advice to clients around artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and data topics. In addition, you will understand adjacent research areas and practices.

What you will do:

  • This support best practices and inspire by detecting emerging next practices and trends in your field of research.
  • Understand critical questions facing Gartner clients and crafting appropriate research methods to address them.
  • Create and deliver high value presentations off the back of the body of research.
  • Collaborate and conduct research and produce innovative and thought-leading research analysis.
  • Provide high quality and timely research peer review.
  • Lead or participate in research community meetings to discuss research issues and collaborate effectively with peers.
  • Create high quality, clear, actionable, “must-have research” content based on research best practices and methodologies
  • Develop new research and ideas through thought leadership and offer compelling, actionable approaches to client's needs and requests that accelerate the client's ability to act
  • Identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions across a team of analysts
  • Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions
  • Support Research and Sales: Provide sales support serving as voice of the market to help research teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business
  • Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings
  • Predict how specific markets are developing, help clients in their selection process and assist vendors in overall positioning
  • Build credibility as a domain or industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy
  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the research community
  • Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members

Please note that this is an individual contributor role, not a leadership role with direct reports.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of industry related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
  • An executive presence: with the ability to establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables
  • Demonstrate analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions
  • Demonstrate research and writing ability
  • Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks to client challenges
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Subject matter expertise
  • Demonstrated presentation skills with the ability to present at large and small-scale speaking engagements
  • Ability to effectively adjust communication style to different audiences
  • Significant applicable experience in the related industry discipline and deep knowledge of a particular market.
  • You bring deep understanding of both technology and industry to include the market, vendors, products and user strategies in specific areas.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (where applicable)

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • 12 years of experience within the field of AI/ML or data management in at least one of the above-mentioned areas.
  • Graduate degree in a related field
