Job Description

As Senior Database Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving LOCALiQ database systems, in addition, you will be working on migrating LOCALiQ database systems into a cloud environment. You will be supporting our software engineers, data engineers, analysts and data scientists on data initiatives that will enhance our products and operations. This role requires self-direction and the ability to support the data system needs of product, engineering, data engineering and data science. We are looking for candidates that are curious and excited by data challenges and are eager to optimize or help re-design our company’s database systems architecture.

About Your Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and implement database systems using MySQL, GCPCloudSQL, BigQueryor similar technologies.
• Ensure data safety and data integrity in LOCALiQ databases.
• Maintain performance, availability, and security for LOCALiQ databases.
• Provide 24x7 Support as part of scheduled rotation with other team members.
• Perform common databases procedures such as recovery, upgrade, backup and other maintenance
• Code review database changes to ensure minimal risk of deployments.

About You

• 5+ years of experience in a Database Engineer or Database Administrator role
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent work experience
• Advanced working knowledge of MySQL databases management, including experience with Percona and other 3rd party tools.
• Working knowledge implementing database replication strategies using MySQL
• Working knowledge in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• Being able to write quality code in at least one programming language

Desirable Skills

• Experience in Digital Marketing / Online advertising (SEO/SEM) an advantage
• Familiar with Agile / Scrum methodologies and principles
• Experience with Google Cloud services such as GKE, Big Query, Cloud SQL, 
• PubSub (equivalent experience with AWSEKS, RDS, RedShift, SQS, etc. accepted)
• Knowledge building development practices like CI/CD, Test Automation, Test Driven Development and cloud deployments
• Curious and motivated by new concepts and ideas
• Driven to accomplish goals, setting trends and obliterating the agenda
