We are seeking an innovative analytics professional to help develop the Data Analytics practice for the AWS Partners Finance team. AWS is the pioneer and recognized leader in Cloud Computing. You are passionate about digging into data to uncover valuable insights, solve complex problems, and drive optimal decision-making to improve business performance. You have a keen ability to apply analytic frameworks to business questions, define data requirements, and deliver compelling analysis and recommendations to finance and business stakeholders. You develop intuitive data visualizations and tools to scale insights and enable self-service analytics.

Data-driven decision-making is at the core of Amazon’s culture, and people who are exceptionally talented at analyzing large sets of data to build insights are critical. You will help shape our finance analytics practice through a combination of superior analytical abilities, technical skills, business acumen, curiosity, and communication skills. You are comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail.

Key job responsibilities

  • Generate insightful analysis, reporting, and data visualizations to answer critical business questions, proactively identify notable trends, and communicate business performance
  • Apply expertise in data mining and modeling leveraging multiple data sources to uncover unique insights, identify key performance drivers, and build predictive models
  • Consult with partners to develop metrics and reporting solutions that measure key inputs, outputs, and productivity of business operations
  • Prepare concise, compelling written communications to present findings and recommendations to internal partners and document methods for transparency and continuity
  • Collaborate with data and analytics teams across AWS to leverage vast data sets, analytic tools, and other resources to advance the quality and timeliness of analysis
  • Provide requirements for telemetry and data structure to improve ability to generate scalable analytic solutions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, etc.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in business intelligence, data analytics, data science, or similar field
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to work through complex problems, manipulate and analyze large data sets, and produce actionable business insights
  • Proficiency in extracting and manipulating data using SQL, with a strong focus on data integrity and accuracy
  • Proficiency in data visualization using applications such as QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView
  • Proficiency in Excel for ad hoc data analysis, modeling and visualization
  • Proficiency in foundational regression methods (e.g., linear, logistic, basic time series); ability to identify opportunities for more advanced modeling methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to translate ambiguous business questions into robust analysis and communicate results to business and finance stakeholders
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize and execute work with minimal direction or supervision

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • 7+ years of work experience of analyzing and interpreting data as a business analyst, business intelligence professional, or similar capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business problems and opportunities
