Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL) located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Visiting Research Scientist to join the Signal Processing Group. Our group conducts fundamental, academically-oriented, cutting-edge research that is applied to challenging industrial problems involving signal processing, artificial intelligence, communications, networking, information theory and processing, as well as next-generation information systems.
We are seeking a candidate that can complement and expand the expertise of our group in fields related to the intersection of information processing and machine learning. The ideal candidate would have a proven track-record of innovative research work in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence (particularly, robust machine learning, distributed learning, and/or learning theory), human-machine interfaces (bio-signal processing, brainwave sensing, augmented reality), and/or next-generation information systems (such as quantum computing/ML, photonic computing).
The term of the position is 1 to 2 years with flexible start date and possible extension beyond the original term.
Responsibilities for this position include:
As a member of our group, you will conduct original research aiming to advance the state-of-the-art in the field, help in proposing new projects with long-term research goals and taking on a key role in one or more of the team's projects. MERL supports and encourages publishing and presenting research results in top international conferences and peer-reviewed journals, collaborating with university professors and students, and maintaining an influential presence in the academic community.
