Chevron is accepting online applications for 2 HRPeople Analytics Data Scientist positions (one Senior level and one Junior level role) through 09/01/2022 at 11:59 p.m.

The Chevron People Analytics & Insights Team equips business and HR leaders with accurate and relevant data-driven analyses supporting the organization’s understanding of the workforce and organizational health. Using advanced analytic techniques, we lead the delivery of holistic workforce intelligence to support Chevron’s People Strategy and transformational change which strengthens the workplace and employee experience. Our mission is to proactively find, develop, and produce important and actionable workforce intelligence that improves components of the Employee Experience Lifecycle in support of Chevron’s People Strategy and business objectives.

The People Analytics and Insights Team is looking for two People Analytics Data Scientists to join our Advanced Analytics and Data Science team – one with Early career level experience and one more Senior level experience.

In this role you will focus on delivering subject matter expertise consultation, performing necessary statistical analysis, and developing predictive models using machine learning and data science techniques, anchoring to the strategic imperatives of Chevron’s People Strategy. You will be expected to execute targeted research and analysis to explore how HR will enable the long-term objectives of the business and the intent of Chevron’s People Strategy. This position is part of the HR Function – Functional, Strategy & Planning – People Analytics & Insights Team.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and frame new opportunities for analysis through proactive engagements with our HR and Business Leaders at senior levels to understand their unique concerns and challenges
  • Use data science & analytics and awareness of internal and external trends to consult with HR and Business leaders to deliver insights from studies that combine different datasets and produce important and relevant insights
  • Design research studies based on internal and external trends, as well as build predictive models to support and inform people programs and strategies across the Employee Experience Lifecycle
  • Lead or support strategic studies to produce organizational capability insights, measure effectiveness, and monitor People Strategy programs.
  • Support confidential studies for HR and Legal teams while ensuring data confidentiality and integrity
  • Deliver analysis in support of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives, and support benchmarking studies through data and analysis
  • Create and deliver ad-hoc and custom analyses to executive-level audiences.
  • Apply knowledge in quantitative and qualitative analysis, as well as data visualization, to create clear and compelling narratives that inform people programs and strategies across the Employee Experience Lifecycle
  • Design and deliver key findings through great data storytelling into visually appealing, insightful, and concise presentations for Senior HR and Business Leaders including CHRO and HR Committee
  • Work closely with other cross function colleagues including HR, Legal, and Business functions.
  • Work closely with HR Digital Platform colleagues (Data Architects, Data Engineers, etc.) to move prototypes into a production state using automation and software engineering rigor to deploy sustainable products leveraging guidance from IT Foundational Platform & Data Science and Analytics Chapter
  • Contribute innovative advanced analytics and data science processes, methodologies, and approaches to help the collective team grow and produce more value while managing bias in the delivery of products and insights
  • Mentor colleagues and HR leaders through reverse mentoring programs to increase understanding of HR People Analytics
  • Document feasibility requirements, code comments and other technical documentation required to transfer knowledge to other technical staff and management

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Management Information Systems, or relevant technical degree
  • 1+ years of demonstrated Experience with HR People Analytics, Workforce Intelligence, or Learning and Talent analytics preferably in corporate HR setting (e.g., Organizational Effectiveness, HR Metrics/Analytics, Data Science, Talent Analytics, Market Research)
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth in advanced analytics / data science technologies (e.g., machine learning, operations research, statistics, structural equation modeling, factor analysis, data mining, NLP techniques)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google cloud and tools in its ecosystem with proficiency in Python or R.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and understandable manner both orally and in writing.
  • Great data visualization and data storytelling skills delivering the right interpretations of data with actionable intelligence and insights
  • Listens carefully and asks questions to understand the views, concerns, and comments of others.
  • Strong consultative skills and HR business acumen
  • Strong data set creation skills including the ability to combine and clean large data sets
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Management Information Systems, industrial relations, industrial organizational psychology, behavioral economics, or other relevant fields
  • Experience with HCM systems (e.g., Workday, SAP Success Factors, etc.)
  • Data visualization skills in Tableau or Power BI
