Responsible for performing complex analysis and is engaged in the development of modeling that maximizes profits and asset growth and minimizes credit and operating losses and other risk exposures. Provides analytical support on various product strategies to ensure company goals are met. Coordinates the production of performance reports for Senior Management. Reviews and analyzes trends in current population distributions and recommends strategies. May participate in or develop complex program models to extract data and use databases to provide statistical and financial modelling.

Master's degree or large data experience preferred; Programming experience and relevant degree or large data experience required.

Job Description:

The Data Scientist Lead is an individual contributor that should be able to apply quantitative, data science and analytical skills to complex problems. He/or she should be able to work across teams to design, develop, and evaluate and execute against those data science and analytical solutions with a keen functional understanding of the business problem. He/she will be responsible for data wrangling, data analysis, modeling, including model selection and producing quick applicable modeling solutions.

The position will serve as a AI/ ML solution designer including advising on optimal solutions and opining on challenger models. The role includes providing technology directions on data science and ML aspects to the team members. It is an opportunity to have meaningful impact on a large scale at BoFA. The role will develop data-centric solutions that move the bottom line for the firm.

Requires relevant degree and experience programming, developing and maintaining large, complex databases and data sets and using data mining and other advanced analytical techniques to aggregate data.

The Enterprise Process Oversight Reporting and Analytics team designs and develops reports, dashboards, and analytical insights using natural language processing, phonetic analysis, lexicon based text analysis, and machine learning. Qualified individuals should have a keen interest in driving efforts in finding practical business solutions using these tools, be passionate about breaking down complex business data problems, and able to support the delivery of well-designed data science solutions through effective program leadership. This will include providing both tactical insight in high viability projects as well as support of long term planning for next generation data analysis solutions.

Candidates should have experience working in fasted paced R&D programs and a strong understand of the unique organizational and program leadership needs these environments require. The Program Manager be responsible for organizing and prioritizing teams work efforts to insure the team delivers maximum value to customers while minimizing program risk by driving adoption of best practices related to all aspects of workflow management with a focus on integration of agile principles at a program level. The roll will also act as the primary liaison with enterprise project management office, EPO Project management Center of Excellence, and other external stakeholders. Must be excited to be part of a fast paced organization, and enjoy the idea of understanding the root driver of our customers (both internal and external), intellectually curious and self-motivated to learn and experiment new techniques and approaches to solve business problems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advanced degree or undergraduate degree with 6+ years work experience in analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Physics), data bootcamp certification, or industry experience in analytical roles (e.g., consulting, modeling, data analysis)
  • Ability to work in a team as a self-directed contributor with a proven track record of being detail orientated, innovative, creative, and strategic.
  • Influencer with great interpersonal skills and proven ability to achieve alignment across a range of different views and interests.
  • Strong skills of data wrangling
  • Strong aptitude for technical concepts and ideas.
  • Thought leader in data science and analytics who can define analytical agenda for projects, demonstrates ability to frame ambiguous business questions into analytical plans (e.g., assessing data needs, sourcing files, preparing data, creating new features, evaluating quality, etc.), and executes with precision.
  • Knowledge of modern data mining, quantitative research, and data science techniques (e.g., multiple of: regressions, decision trees, ensemble algorithms, neural networks, time series analytics, clustering, anomaly detection, text analytics, etc.).
  • Experience across broad range of modern data science and analytics tools are preferred (e.g., SQL, Hive, Hadoop, Spark, Python, R and Jupyter Notebook).
  • Excellent communicator able to convey complex information in an understandable, compelling, and persuasive manner to senior executives.
  • You will work within the Machine Learning Team to design, code, train, test, deploy and iterate on large scale machine learning systems.
  • You will build delightful products and experiences for millions, while working alongside an excellent, cross-functional team across Engineering, Product and Design.
  • You will help shape the direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence at BofA.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience
  • Good influence and negotiating skills.
  • Proven experience and understanding of the complete software life cycle.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Experience with business process design and operational excellence techniques.
  • Formal Agile, Lean, and project management training including Project Management Professional training/certification
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency in order to meet critical deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with strong investigative and problem solving skills.
  • Strong applied statistical analysis back ground with understanding of business process control, statistical process control, risk-management, contingency planning, FMEA, sampling, and A/B Testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record and business knowledge in financial industry.
  • Technology knowledge of the following disciplines a plus Commercial, Digital, EDI, eCommerce, Distributor Management, CRM, Mobility, ERP, Call Center System & Business Analytics
  • Must be comfortable in collaborating with business leads, understanding business strategy/processes, looking for innovative solutions to drive business enhancements both for internal business users and external customers.
  • Experience with the following technologies a plus: Hadoop, Tableau, Machine Learning, AI, Natural Language processing, Nexidia/NICE Call Analytics
